Because Altastenberg is the highest village in Northwestern Germany, it is especially snow reliable and the trails mainly run along the scenic ridge of the Rothaar Mountains. There is also a connection to the trail networks of Westfeld, Lenneplaetze and Langewiese as well as to the Winterberg Bremberg trails. Via the Rothaar trail, you can ski to the Rhein-Weser-Turm and along the Hunauspur to the Ochsenkamp near Bad Fredeburg.
