It takes about an hour from Highway 70 to reach Aspen Highlands ski resort. Unfortunately, there is a fee for parking. Located at the base of Aspen Highlands, the Aspen Highlands Parking Garage offers a limited number of spots that fill up quickly on holidays, weekends, and powder days. After the first hour you have to pay hourly. You can park at Buttermilk Mountain for free and then take the free shuttle bus to Aspen Highlands. Winter Closure
Highway 82 towards Twin Lake via Independence Pass is closed in the winter. Aspen can only be accessed in the winter via Basalt and Glenwood Springs (Highway 70).
