Gastronomy tip
Panoramarestaurant Hoadl-Haus
At the mountain station of the Hoadlbahn and Olympiabahn lifts at 2,340 metres
Captivating view of the mountains and the Inn Valley (Inntal). In fine weather, the windows at the front are raised: full panorama - a very scenic place to eat and the largest covered sun terrace in Austria. The building won the ISR Architecture Award in 2009. It has a self-service restaurant serving a wide selection of dishes and with space for 600 diners as well as a small table-service restaurant.
Mountain hut tip
Sunnalm
Beside the Karleitenabfahrt slope at 2,050 metres
Centrally located in the ski resort with a beautiful view of the Golden Roofpark. Great sun terrace and pretty, modern wooden architecture. Hearty soups and classic hut specialities are available in the self-service restaurant and table-service area.
Pleisenhütte (Bärenhütte)
Beside the base station of the Pleisenbahn lift at 1,840 metres
Authentic home cooking is served in the mountain hut run by the Freisinger family. It offers the most Tyrolean charm of all the huts in the ski resort. It is rather small and is usually very popular.
Dohlennest
On the Olympic Damenabfahrt slope at 2,000 metres at the foot of the Kalkkögel
Describes itself as "the most rustic hut in Axamer Lizum". Sun terrace, bar and even barbecues from time to time. Our opinion: a great place for a break!
Der weiße Rausch
At the end of runs 3 and 4 at 1,600 metres
"Der weiße Rausch" is not a classic hut, but rather a modern bistro bar in the Tyrolean snow sport competence centre - Lizum 1600. Very nice atmosphere and terrace right next to the slope. At lunchtime, it serves soups, pasta dishes and burgers. In the afternoon, sausages and soups are on the menu. It is open for overnight guests only in the evening.
