Evaluated by Skiresort.info, the world's largest test portal for ski resorts.
The evaluation is done as follows
Environmental protection of the ski resort Bad Gastein/Bad Hofgastein – Schlossalm/Angertal/Stubnerkogel
The Gastein Valley is very concerned about the environment. Numerous free ski buses run between the villages and base stations. Bad Gastein train station is located directly at the base station of the Stubnerkogelbahn lift. Escalators and a glass walkway provide convenient access. The ÖBB (Österreichische Bundesbahn train operator) offers a combined train & ski pass ticket.
The Gasteiner Bergbahnen ski lift operator also shows very great commitment to the environment. Extensive photovoltaic systems at the lifts produce a high volume of energy for the resort. The remaining energy required for cable cars and snow-making equipment comes from hydraulic power. At the base station of the Schlossalmbahn lift, the resort has developed a large solar installation in combination with a heat pump and soil water store. There are charging points for electric cars at the base stations. HVO is used to fuel the fleet of slope grooming vehicles (up to 85% CO2 saving). Reservoirs are filled mainly with snowmelt. The resort is implementing reforestation projects. Slope surfaces are cultivated extensively.
