Balderschwang joined Oberallgäu and Bregenzwald communities in 2008 to form the first cross-border Austrian-German natural park, Nagelfluhkette Natural Park. Forest areas are off limits and they encourage the use of ski buses. In the ski huts, mainly products from their own farms are used.
