Gastronomy tip
Kögele Hütte
On the Rastkopf at 1,520 metres, slightly away from the slope to Rinnen
Small kitchen, great food: everything is prepared freshly at the Kögele Hütte. In addition to mountain hut classics such as goulash soup, regularly changing menus are featured here (check the blackboard outside). It is well worth a visit as both the secluded location and the hut itself are very beautiful.
Das View - the Pop-Up
At the Egghof Sun Jet mountain station at 1,450 metres
You can take a break in “The View” any time during the day. There are ‘Weißwürste’ veal sausages to accompany a morning beer, and during the day you can choose from a wide selection of soups, cutlets, tarte flambée, pasta and raclette. The wine selection is tempting too. A large sun terrace and après-ski bar complete the attractions.
Mountain hut tip
Heiterwanger Hochalm
On the Almkopf directly below the Almkopfbahn lift and next to the Sonnalmbahn lift at 1,610 metres
The Heiterwanger Hochalm has the charm of a Canadian log cabin which the proprietor reflects perfectly: natural, mischievous and down to earth. The Hochalm is a self-service restaurant with a great sun terrace offering amazing panoramic views to the south. Many visitors order pizza. Those in the know opt for: Kaiserschmarrn. And those who dare choose: Jagatee.
