Running an environmentally friendly ski resort is a priority at Dachstein West. The base station of the Horn lift Russbach is heated by the operation of the Horn lift. Skiing through the forest areas is prohibited and the restaurants make an effort to use local products. They encourage the use of ski buses to access the resort.

Free Postbus ski buses travel from Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Hallstatt, Obertraun, Golling, Abtenau, St. Martin and Lungötz to the ski resort. There are also free local ski buses in Gosau, Russbach and Annaberg.
