Access, Parking Falls Creek
The ski resort of Falls Creek is located almost 400 kilometres north-east of Melbourne (around 4.5 hours’ drive) and is around 7 hours’ drive from Sydney. From Mount Beauty, the steep Bogong High Plains Road leads up to Falls Creek where it ends in winter. During the winter season, visitors need to pay a Resort Entry fee for each vehicle. The toll gate is located at Howman’s Gap and all cars are checked here. It is also mandatory to carry snow chains in the state of Victoria (except for 4-wheel-drive/all-terrain vehicles). Snow chains can be hired in Mount Beauty. Significant fines of up to several hundred dollars are charged for non-compliance. Payment of the Resort Entry fee then allows you to park in the designated parking areas in Falls Creek. Your proof of payment must always be displayed visibly in the car.
