Advanced skiing, freeriding (powder snow skiing) Gaustablikk – Rjukan
Advanced skiers will find some difficult slopes at the Gaustablikk Expressen, Skipsheisen and the Brendstaulheisen. Those that prefer freeriding terrain will be satisfied at the Fjellheisen t-bar lift. An absolute highlight is the ride up to the Gaustatoppen with the Gaustabanen. However, you will need to purchase an extra ticket for the ride and you can only get to the base station by bus during the main season. Otherwise, you have to drive up with your own car to the base station. From the Gaustatoppen, a difficult ski route leads back to the base and also to the ski resort. Extreme skiers can attempt the almost vertical chutes on the mountain. When new snow has fallen, the Gaustatoppen is very popular, but you should get to the lift early because only 40 people can be taken up to the mountain per hour.
- many freeride/deep snow areas
