Advanced skiing, freeriding (powder snow skiing) Grossglockner Heiligenblut
Advanced skiers and freeriders will definitely get their money's worth here. There is only one black slope, but the 4 challenging ski routes, which feature great scenery, as well as the endless freeriding possibilities score points with advanced skiers. Heiligenblut offers one of the most breathtaking freeride areas in the eastern Alps and includes 15 km² of open high Alpine terrain and numerous variations and slopes. Due to the high elevation of up to almost 3000 m, there are often very good conditions. There are 6 different freeride sectors (open ski terrain) and information about the current avalanche situation, the open ski routes, local weather including wind and temperature is available at the Freeride Checkpoint at the middle station. An up to date LVS Check is possible here. Warning: the Freeride Sectors are not secured against avalanches, are not marked and are not monitored. A ski guide is recommended.
