As almost all of the hotels are right next to the slopes, there is no need to use your car at all during your ski holiday. Free ski buses are also promoted extensively throughout the entire Ötztal Valley. Slopes are closed if there is insufficient snow and it is forbidden to ski through forests. The Ötztal Nature Park encompasses many scenic and protected areas. These include the mountains around Obergurgl-Hochgurgl.
