New reservoir on the Katschberg
The new reservoir on the Aineck measures 165,000 m³, which is 36,000 tanker loads. The reservoir will ensure snow reliability at the Carinthian/Salzburg Land border and will be built during the summer months (2013).The reservoir at 2,200 m above sea level on the Aineck also has a pleasant side effect: the water pressure is used during snow production to power the snow guns - this saves up to 20% on energy requirements.The new reservoir ensures the production of the snow base on the Katschberg as well as on the Aineck and is the fifth snow reservoir in the ski resort. During the building process, a new pump station will be constructed for quicker and more efficient snow production. The fact that the slopes on the Katschberg have 100% snow-making capabilities is well-known. 700 snow guns and cannons throughout the ski resort guarantee this.
