Slopes/runs Kaunertal Glacier (Kaunertaler Gletscher)
Kaunertal Glacier offers a varied selection of slopes. The glacier runs are very wide and there are no overcrowded slopes here. The resort impresses with a wide selection of easy, intermediate and difficult slopes. With the Black Ibex, it is even home to possibly the steepest slope in Austria with gradients of up to 87.85%. It really is an extreme steep slope. In 2021, the ski resort was expanded around the Weißseejoch with some great new slopes and freeride areas. From the Kaunertal Glacier, you can enjoy amazing panoramic views of snowy mountains. The slopes at the three mountain stations all start at over 3,000 metres right next to the Austrian-Italian border. Kaunertal Glacier is a highlight for freeriders too, with several off-piste runs and large powder areas.

Various unsecured off-piste runs in the ski resort start at the Karlesjoch, Weißseejoch and Nörderjoch and lead to the Ochsenalmbahn lift or the Fernergarten (ski bus). Another off-piste run even leads to Melag in the Langtaufer Valley (Vallelunga) in South Tyrol (N.B.: the only way back from South Tyrol is by taxi - 90 kilometres). These off-piste runs are recommended only in the company of a mountain guide.
