Environmental protection of the ski resort Kronplatz (Plan de Corones)

The ski resort of Kronplatz acts very responsibly towards nature. Sustainability is an important issue. The lifts are modern and energy-efficient. Efficient snow management means that only as much artificial snow is produced as is actually needed. The melting water is collected again up on the mountain.

It is perfectly possible to travel here without a car. There is a direct connection to the ski resort from the train station in Percha. A comprehensive network of free ski buses operates. Charging points for electric cars are also available at the base stations.

The summit of the Kronplatz has a district heating station which uses wood chips from local storm-damaged timber. The resort runs projects to preserve biodiversity. Forest areas are fenced off to protect wildlife. Restaurants are heated using the waste heat from the lifts. The resort’s own photovoltaic systems generate electricity.
