New cross-country centre Pitztal Glacier at the Mittelberg lift

You ride comfortably up to an elevation of 2840 m with the Gletscherexpress. The 6 person Gletschersee chairlift brings you up to the base station of the Mittelberg lift where rooms and bathroom facilities are available. From there, you continue on to the professionally prepared high elevation trail at 2740 m. With an elevation difference of 50 metres (between 2690 m and 2740 m), the Pitztal Gletscherbahn provides you with an ideal training area for preparing for the next season. The infrastructure completed this year also provides you with the comfort of changing training materials and clothing, access to your equipment and the possibility of waxing your skis on-location.

Pitztal Glacier utilises technology from Israel

Snow production independent from temperature, humidity and wind. With the IDE All Weather Snowmaker, snow can be produced without chemical additives even during positive temperatures. This innovation comes from Israel and should help secure ski tourism on the Pitztal Glacier and improve the quality of the slopes at the beginning and end of the season. This makes it possible to ski on a larger selection of slopes at the beginning of the season in autumn. The artificially built up snow covering also provides a protection layer over the ice and prevents the glacier retreat and damage of the important, hard ice crust by the sun.
