Environmental protection of the ski resort Pitztal Glacier (Pitztaler Gletscher)

The highest photovoltaic system in Europe has been installed on the Pitztal Glacier at just under 3,000 metres. It supplies over one third of the ski resort's electricity requirements. A very good transport concept operates in the 35-kilometre-long Pitztal Valley with ski buses running at regular intervals. The resort is no longer open during the summer in order to protect the glacier. The glacier is covered with tarpaulin in the summer. The lifts are modern and energy-efficient.

Public transportation/on-site mobility

  • No direct train connection
The nearest train station is in Imst. Buses run from here to the base station of the Pitztaler Gletcherbahn lift.
  • Comprehensive ski bus network
  • Scheduled buses
  • Ski buses run throughout the entire Pitztal Valley.
