Environmental friendliness/environmental protection Postwiesen Skidorf – Neuastenberg
Evaluated by Skiresort.info, the world's largest test portal for ski resorts.
The evaluation is done as follows
Environmental friendliness of the ski resort Postwiesen Skidorf – Neuastenberg
The Postwiese is an FFH area (FFH stands for fauna, flora and habitat). The mountain meadows and heathland that are worthy of protection have remained intact despite the ski operation. The extensive grazing that used to be taken care of by the sheep and making sure the trees don't grow on the meadow is now done by the ski area operators. Since it is only economically feasible to operate the ski area with the support of artificial snow production, the snow-making equipment was approved in 2002, despite their FFH status. The construction of the snow-making facility was accompanied by biological building experts and the surface vegetation was carefully removed in order to lay the pipes and then put back into place.
T-bar lifts are not so comfortable, but they require less energy to transport people up the mountain compared to chairlifts.
