Environmental protection of the ski resort Schladming – Planai/Hochwurzen/Hauser Kaibling/Reiteralm (4-Berge-Skischaukel)
In 2002, the Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen lift company volunteered to be the first ski resort to be audited in the "ökologischen Skigebiets-Auditierung" (ecological ski resort audit), examining all processes and business areas for environmental sustainability. The lift company received an excellent report, especially in the area of slope sustainability due to its plantation work. The majority of restaurants serve local foods. The ‘Genusspecht-Wirte’ cooperation on the Planai reflects the promise by the local restaurant operators to make greater use of regional ingredients. In the mobility area, the entire 4-Mountain Ski Area is also taking on a pioneering role. A dense network of ski buses transports visitors from their accommodation to the various entry points. The train station in Schladming, with trains running directly from Germany, also gives visitors the option of leaving their cars at home.
“Pro Natura - Pro Ski" recognition for conducting an environmental audit.
