Gastronomy tip

Thurntaler Rast

At the base station of the Thurntaler 6-person chairlift lift at 2,000 metres

The Thurntaler Rast was completely renovated and expanded in 2013. It now serves typical skier’s fare in a cosy atmosphere. On cold days, you can warm up at the open fire. The sun terrace is an inviting place to sit in fine weather.

Mountain hut tip

Pistentreff

At the base station of the Außervillgraten 4-person chairlift at 1,500 metres

The small and rustic Pistentreff is the only table-service hut in the ski resort of Sillian. Mario attends to diners in person here. The speciality is the home-made ‘Krapfen’. Usually you would be served up doughnuts if you ordered this, but here you're in for a surprise. These are ravioli-style pasta dishes and the choice includes the traditional ‘Schlutzkrapfen’, spinach or pizza versions and Carinthian cheese ravioli. The sun terrace is an inviting place to sit in fine weather.
