The Wildschönau, located in the heart of Tyrol, received a new, state-of-the-art cable car at the start of the 2017/18 winter season. With the new 8-seater gondola lift from Auffach to the Schatzberg, the entire Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau area has once again increased in quality. The ride is now even more comfortable and waiting times are significantly reduced.
More comfort and much shorter waiting times
An already excellent ski area just got even better: at the start of the 2017/18 winter season, the new Schatzbergbahn in Auffach in the Wildschönau began operation. Instead of the 4-seater gondola lift Schatzberg and the Schatzberglift II, a state-of-the-art monocable gondola lift with 8-seater cabins is now in use. It runs along the same route, but guarantees more comfort, greater capacity, and significantly shorter travel times.
The transport capacity increases from 1,600 to 2,650 people per hour. For the route of just over four kilometers with an altitude difference of 912 meters from Auffach to the Schatzberg, the new gondola lift takes only 13 minutes. Winter sports enthusiasts and mountain lovers can look forward not only to significantly shorter waiting times, but also to a much more comfortable boarding process that is now much more accessible for wheelchair users.
18 million euro investment
A total of 18 million euros is being invested in the new Schatzbergbahn. This includes the construction or renovation of the three stations. The new lift system represents a tremendous improvement in quality for the entire ski area. Anyone wishing to use the entire ski area and travel between Alpbachtal and Wildschönau can now do so in much less time and with significantly more comfort.
