Advanced skiers can look forward to some challenging difficult runs. The Mitterstein black slope is a particular attraction. Tauplitz is also the leading freeride area in Styria. A great many unsecured powder slopes can be found on the Lawinenstein and Schneiderkogel.

    The slope runs beside the Mittersteinbahn lift (2nd section) steeply down towards the valley.
