Highway 70 is about 200 km away from the Telluride ski resort. The road leading there is well-built and is usually four lanes. The first 150 km lead through a pretty barren, desert-like landscape. The last couple km before Telluride lead up through a canyon to Telluride. The Telluride Airport is only 10 km from the ski resort and is the highest commercial airport in the USA.

Winter Closure
Telluride is located in a valley basin and can only be accessed via Highway 145. This highway ends in Telluride. A connection to Silverton is not possible.
