Access, Parking Thredbo
Thredbo is located around 500 kilometres south west of Sydney (around 5 hours’ drive) and can be accessed easily from the capital Canberra (just under 2.5 hours’ drive). A mountain road runs from Jindabyne to Thredbo. The ski resort is located in the Snowy Mountains in Kosciuszko National Park. Visitors need to pay an expensive admission fee per day and per car to access the park. Parking at the Friday Flat base station at the Gunbarrel Express is then free of charge. Only limited parking is available in the village of Thredbo at the Kosciuszko Express. It is also mandatory to carry snow chains (except for 4-wheel-drive/all-terrain vehicles).
