The Whitewater cross-country ski centre is located at around 1,650 metres, just before the Base Lodge car park. It offers prepared cross-country trails (classic and skating) in varied terrain. Lessons and hire equipment are available here too.
There is also the Nelson Nordic Ski Club at Highway 6, right next to the turn-off for the ski resort. This offers an additional 30 kilometres of cross-country trails. The Apex cross-country trail is floodlit every day until 11 pm during the ski season. These cross-country trails are just 10 minutes from Nelson and a fee must be paid to use them.
