Environmental protection of the ski resort Zillertal Arena – Zell am Ziller/Gerlos/Königsleiten/Hochkrimml
Very great emphasis is placed on environmental protection in the Zillertal Arena. The ski resort uses energy from 100% CO² neutral electricity. Photovoltaic systems for clean power generation are installed throughout the entire Zillertal Arena ski area. In January 2013, the world's first people mover equipped with a photovoltaic system went into operation in Gerlos. The covered people mover supplied by Sunkid is equipped with solar modules and produces more green energy than it requires for operation. In Zell am Ziller, Gerlos and Königsleiten, there are charging points for electric vehicles in some car parks. e-BOBs (electric cars) can be rented in the village of Wald-Königsleiten. Forest protection zones and the comprehensive ski bus network also help to protect the environment. All mountain huts are connected to the sewage system and the entire ski resort is a mountain pasture area in the summer.
