The Ammergau Alps are situated between Germanys´ highest mountain Zugspitze and the Neuschwanstein Castle, one hour south of Munich. Three family ski resorts and one freeride descent are waiting for skiers but also the regional sights are worth a journey: the Oberammergau Passion Play Theater, Ettal monastery, Linderhof Palace which is considered to have been the favorite castle of King Ludwig II. or the Church in the Meadows, the only UNESCO-world heritage site in southern Bavaria – all are in the Ammergau Alps. Other winter activities are: tobogganing, cross country and back country skiing.
